What’s New in Business Central 2025 Release Wave 2 (BC27)

The Autumn 2025 update wave for Business Central introduces expanded functionality with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, more efficient financial management, and a modernized approach to manufacturing and reporting. Microsoft is enhancing Copilot, adding intelligent agents, and unveiling new tools for ESG reporting and Czech localization.

1. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Copilot

AI is becoming a key component of Business Central. New Copilot capabilities allow users to ask questions in natural language, generate analyses, and automatically fill in data. Intelligent agents like the Sales Order Agent and Payables Agent automate the processing of orders and invoices, significantly saving time and resources.

2. Smarter Finance and Reporting

The finance module gains new reports and tools for transaction control:

  • Audit Trail Report – a detailed overview of changes and movements in the system for audit purposes.
  • Enhanced Power BI apps – new dashboards for finance and project profitability.
  • Multi-year comparisons – expanded financial statements with time-based analysis.

3. Manufacturing Enhancements

Manufacturing companies gain greater control over subcontracting, cost accuracy, and quality:

  • More efficient management of external processes
  • Inclusion of non-inventory items in production costs
  • Tools for evaluating material quality
  • Ability to reopen completed production orders

4. ESG and Sustainability

New features enable tracking of energy consumption, emissions, and other sustainability metrics directly within Business Central. The system is preparing for CSRD-compliant reporting, including Scope 3 emissions tracking starting in 2026.

5. Updates for Czech Localization

  • Improved handling of advance invoices and VAT
  • New pages for posting advances
  • Better matching of cash documents and visibility of unreliable VAT payers

Version BC27 builds on the spring release BC26 and moves Business Central closer to a fully automated ERP system. From Essence’s perspective, this marks another step in integrating AI into real-world business practice—from finance and manufacturing to sustainability.
